“Honorable Mention“ for our project for the accumulator tank in Gothenburg!

[DESIGN COMPETITION]

In collaboration with the City of Gothenburg and Sveriges Arkitekter, Göteborg Energi AB organized a general project competition for the design of an accumulatortank for district cooling and associated technical building.
The competition task was to come up with a design proposal for the accumulator tank that is functional, adaptable and well designed in line with Göteborg Energi’s and the City of Gothenburg’s goals and visions.

EGA project has been distinguished by the jury of the competition with Honorable mention among 80 approved proposals submitted
“For its empathetically composed design that shows an understanding of the site and how the relief depth, pattern and texture work together to create an holistic effect that works well in all scales of the city.”

Göteborg Energi plans to build a new accumulator tank on a property in Gullbergsvass, centrally located in Gothenburg. There were previously two gas bells on the site, the last of which was dismantled in 2017. The new tank will be highly visible in the city and affect its surroundings. In the relatively near future, the area will be transformed and developed into a denser city.
The tank includes a technology house, which was also included in the competition task.
An accumulator tank is a large and eye-catching volume with a building height of around 65 meters and a diameter of around 28 meters.
