30/05/2024“Honorable Mention“ for our project for the accumulator tank in Gothenburg!
[DESIGN COMPETITION]
In collaboration with the City of Gothenburg and Sveriges Arkitekter, Göteborg Energi AB organized a general project competition for the design of an accumulatortank for district cooling and associated technical building.
The competition task was to come up with a design proposal for the accumulator tank that is functional, adaptable and well designed in line with Göteborg Energi’s and the City of Gothenburg’s goals and visions.EGA project has been distinguished by the jury of the competition with Honorable mention among 80 approved proposals submitted
“For its empathetically composed design that shows an understanding of the site and how the relief depth, pattern and texture work together to create an holistic effect that works well in all scales of the city.”Göteborg Energi plans to build a new accumulator tank on a property in Gullbergsvass, centrally located in Gothenburg. There were previously two gas bells on the site, the last of which was dismantled in 2017. The new tank will be highly visible in the city and affect its surroundings. In the relatively near future, the area will be transformed and developed into a denser city.
The tank includes a technology house, which was also included in the competition task.
An accumulator tank is a large and eye-catching volume with a building height of around 65 meters and a diameter of around 28 meters.EGA: Team Erik Giudice, Gustav Kavsjö, Viktor Löfström

06/11/2023Erik Giudice talks at Business Arena West 2023
Erik Giudice is to talk at Business Arena West on November 7th 2023.
As Paris prepares for the 2024 Olympics, the city is thinking long-term, not least in terms of climate sustainability. An office building that houses athletes during the Olympics will then be converted into offices in a circular process that reuses bathroom modules and interior walls. The new district being built will be completely car-free, have generous public spaces, mixed housing types, varied housing prices, local energy production, a minimised carbon footprint and a focus on timber construction.
Don’t miss the presentation at 13:40-14:00 on Samhällsbyggnadsscenen (room F3), at Business Arena West if you’re in Gothenburg this tuesday.

25/10/2023EGA TALK October 2023
EGA Stockholm welcomed friends and industry colleagues this wednesday for a talk about the ongoing work with the Olympic Village for Paris 2024.
We have been general architects for one part of the athletic village in Paris and have designed two of the buildings in detail. The athletes’ village is a pilot project with high ambitions regardning social and ecological sustainability. The city takes the opportunity to raise socially vulnerable areas with the investment for the Olympics, and the construction process allows for “double building permits” to convert the buildings to other functions after the Olympics. The goal is to create a sustainable eco-district that will long after the games are finished.
The event included French cheese, macarons and a demonstration of the Olympic project by Erik. This was followed by a discussion on innovative urban development methods, the building permit process and Sweden’s application for the 2030 Olympics.
Our learnings from working with the Paris Olympics shred light on both challenges and opportunities with hosting such an event – on innovative methods and building authorisation processes and how to build for a sustainable event. How will we provide enough housing for the event with a slowing constructing industry and what building regulations will have to be put in place?
The topic is especially relevant today, as the City of Stockholm opens up about its ambitions to host Winter Olympics 2030.

People’s Choice, Architecture and Social Appropriation
“The 21st century self-builder willingly opts for participatory architecture, one that we build together. For reasons of solidarity, but also socio-political, with in mind the desire to found a community of united individuals. In doing so, he follows in the sagacious footsteps of Hassan Fathy, an Egyptian architect who advocates self-construction as understood: popular initiative, as much as possible (Building with the people, 1969). ”

Happy to continue the work with the new waterfront master plan of Västra Sjöstaden in Trelleborg, Sweden. EGA Architects and Stina Pettersson and Ramboll we have created the winning proposal: “La ville quotidienne” – The greatness of our small everyday life. What happens if we let the places of everyday life like supermarkets, schools, workplaces, homes and places where we meet friends and family become the symbol environments in a new area? Instead of building the world’s largest concert hall, we build the world’s best everyday life.
